NFL News of March 25, 2004

In the NFL, Brock Marion doesn’t qualify as a youngster anymore. Not with his 34th birthday less than three months away.
But don’t tell Lions defensive coordinator Dick Jauron his newest defensive back is on his last legs.
Marion, a free agent since the Miami Dolphins released him March 2, agreed to a four-year contract Thursday, and Jauron expects him to play most—if not all—of the years covered in the deal…
Although president Matt Millen and coach Steve Mariucci have been working hard at putting together a younger team, they obviously think Marion’s combination of athletic ability and leadership makes him a worthwhile exception.

Marion started all 16 games for the Lions in 2004, but was released at the end of the season and retired.
