As improbably as it had vanished, the Falcons’ running game resurfaced Thursday night.
The offensive line, which had been stymied in its first three preseason games, opened up lanes for running backs Warrick Dunn and T.J. Duckett. Coach Dan Reeves, who had called just 50 run plays in the preseason, went to the run seven times in the first 10 plays. Those seven rushes gained 34 yards.
At times at least, it appeared the running game that had the fourth-highest rushing total in the NFL last season had come back.
