A day after the Jets let their productive young receiver Laveranues Coles jump to the Washington Redskins, they signed an experienced replacement today in Curtis Conway. A person familiar with the three-year contract said Conway would earn $7.5 million, including a signing bonus of $1.2 million.

At 32, Conway is older than the 25-year-old Coles. He has 10 years of N.F.L. experience to Coles’s 3. At 6 feet 1 inch and 196 pounds, he is bigger than Coles. He has a toughness honed by experience.

Conway caught 46 passes in his one year with the Jets. Coles he was traded back to the Jets in exchange for Santana Moss before the 2005 season.
